Thanks to Adam for the idea . Before starting it let me explain what a category forum is.
What is a category forum?
In hedir we have 97 second level categories. For example - "animation" under "arts and humanities" is a second level category. Each of these categories will have individual forums called category forums. This can be used to discuss the category related issues. You can discuss animation related things under "animation category forums". No restriction though for fun .
Apply to be moderator of a category forum along with the category name.
Your application is received by admin. Admin goes through your application and with the approval of community a forum is created(if already not there) for you for the choosen category.
You are assigned moderator to the category forums. We provide all technical help required.
We serve Google ads on all forum topics. 80% of time ad is yours, 20% of time ours.
*My forum user name: Lakhya
*Total reviews made by me: (to be under consideration and not a set number to be a MOD)
*I joined the Hedir Community on:
*Category I am interested in: Animation
*Credentials: I am worthy of this category because... (explain)
So that's 97 forums on an average amount of 5 steady reviewers (of which 3 are moderators).
Are the category-specific submissions also put in these forums for review or is it just to talk about the category subject?
Can you apply for multiple category forums?

Since no "community decision" was ever made about any other problem/subject/proposal, how do you plan to do this? A poll? 10 "yes" votes? _________________ Please review some sites.

I think this is a good start and good Idea Adam. I think this will allow hedir to have some category specific but unbaised and independent forums.
This will attract more visitors to hedir categories. I think the reviews criteria should be atleast 25 overall and atleast 7 from the applied category. Also the application should be posted in public for approval and senior member's approval should be taken. _________________ http://www.idealwebtools.com/blog/orkut-banned-india/ - Orkut getting a ban in India, why? So what you are doing is taking what is a directory and expanding it into a portal basically.. Cool..
And yes, I have been absent a lot the last couple months.. But life in meatspace has been exceptionally hellish the last couple months.. Hopefully it's over and I can be more active again..
Are the category-specific submissions also put in these forums for review or is it just to talk about the category subject?
Category specific submissions are not put in these forums. Its more about talking about the category subject.

We try to implement things with permission of community but sometimes we try the implementation and leave the future in hands of our community. Most of the changes you can see in the last couple of months are driven by community needs. For example, the hedir next, hedir bugs all these project are put in wiki format so that anyone can modify them and give his/her opinion. This has helped Hedir to accumulate a collective brain power to make it the better and the best. Please post your opinions that we can correct it accordingly.
Thanks,

I am working on it on alpha server. Each second level category will have a forum of its own with a moderator to take care of it. You never know, may be one day "animation" category forum might serve many interested fellows with the needed information. I think this a good oppurtunity for the our community members to try their hands on forum creation.
I will also like to have one, the one I know the best, PhP category.

Can we please, please, please disallow guest-submissions?
I thought that was disabled a long time back. _________________ http://www.idealwebtools.com/blog/orkut-banned-india/ - Orkut getting a ban in India, why? Is it fair? Politicians not liking it as some voices are raised against.
