Could not figure out how to vote for the article at many sites, so I registered and bookmarked as many as I could. I found that at most of these, all I could do was register and make my own bookmark.

It's an interesting challenge to register at Italian language sites Smile

might sound like a silly question.... but having to open up different accounts for different bookmarking sites seems a bit of work(did the delicious account... added tags there).... tried to find some more info on the tags and bookmarkings.... once again a run around..... how will bookmarking this article provide more traffic to HEDIR...? (bit behind on the social bookmarking side)

Many of the bookmarking sites allow listing by most popular, most used, etc. People seem to like to look at sites other people have looked at, so if you have a lot of bookmarks to one site, it's "popular" and more people tend to visit a popular site than an "unpopular" one.

There may be more reasons, I don't know.

If you go to Digg, you can also post a Digg link in your own blog which provides more links to the same article in a variety of places. I did this by accident Smile

The purpose was to introduce it to few. There is a new section in all the bookmarking sites and thats a way to popularity.

You need to write big bulky posts to get into popular lists. Also you need to have a set of users who can promote you initially. One of my forum posts got to the homepage of digg and I had 2,000 visitors on that day.
