Hi members,
Now it's time for another Friday release (I am always excited about the friday releases ). And this time our tech team has thought about a tool to make the communication a little more simpler.
Ok, Ok, let me explain
Look at your hedir homepage (example http://www.hedir.com/anthony/ is my homepage), what are the options that you see?
3) The week's release - Bottom part of the homepage
This is a community communication redefined. You can chat asynchronously using the homepages with the selected community members (We just called them friends ) and the section "friends talk".
How does it work?
After logging in visit any member page. I am visiting Bret's homepage.
You will get a link towards bottom left saying "add me as a friend".
Click on it and it will allow you to add a request for Bret.
Once you have added the request Bret (your friend) will get a request approval form with an email notification.
Bret will be able to Accept or Decline the request.
Since Bret is a good friend of mine he approved my request. Now I will appear under Bret's friend list and he under mine.
Now we are easily use the friends talk and community with each other in an unique way. The conversation will be publicly available too.
I hope you will have a good time with this feature. BTW, if you have any queries or suggestion on this then please let us know. We will definitely try to make it better place for our community friends. This will help us build our community stronger.
Thanks

Here is what I would love to see in the next "Friday" release:
1) Faster response times from the server.
2) A better interface for rating and organizing submissions.
hedir.com is essentially a forum code base that has been tweaked to do some voting. Unfortunately, this format does not lend itself to actively maintaining any sort of a "active" queue. The result is submissions that are over a year old. Also, people look at forum code and understand, but when you use it to do something beyond its original design ... it just confuses people.
Case in point, I showed hedir to a friend the other day. They said to me, "So, people on here critic good website design using an interface that is crap? No thanks, I have better things to do with my time."
I don't want to be harsh, but I just think that this should be addressed at some time.
Gedanken, thank you for the feedback. It is highly appreciated.
It has two phases:
1) Server speed - Currently we are running on a shared server and thus it is not upto our expectation. We will be shifting to our dedicated server soon.
2) Code - Most of our pages comes out of cache for logged out members. For logged in members we have enabled some cache systems but it is not effective enough. With our dedicated server we will be able to enable better cache systems. Also phpbb templates are table based and we are trying to make it tableless for faster rendering.
Hedir is a phpbb code and tweaked as per requirement. We have some of the sections like Review center which can be used for sorting the submissions. We also have a special section for our moderators for approval listing ( http://www.hedir.com/site-approval-centre/approval-waitinglist.php ) Please let us know if you need a different queue for submissions.
We are working on a different review system which will not be a top surfaced categorical arrangement but one click review for each site. http://www.hedir.com/cafe/about17748.html#49382 offers some explanation.
We are planning to launch it after January (may be February 1st or March 1st of 2007). It will be supported by various plugins (firefox, IE, wordpress e.t.c).
Hedir is a community effort and is completely community driven. I am adding you to our exclusive corner (http://www.hedir.com/xclusive-corner/ ) where we have discussed about few of our upcoming plans.
This Friday I will try to deliver a better and faster rendering interface.
Regards,
