I've recently started doing SEO for my clients... They pay me a fee and I optimize their website. I also send out monthly ranking reports... That's all fine and dandy.

However, it has been a few months now and one of my clients rankings in Google have disappeared. What should I do? Is it my responsability to fix this even though I've already optimized it previously? The rankings are still in Yahoo and MSN, just not Google...

Any suggestions? How do I keep their sites ranking for a much longer term?

I think this is due to Jagger Update. Google had so many issues to prevent spammy sites to get higher ranking in SERP. Like :

1) Reciprocal Linking popularity.
2) Spammed techniques to apply CSS.
3) Directory sites with Faux Adsense.
4) Scraper Sites

and many more....

Google had no other way out but to apply the jagger update and I think following issues had been handeled by jagger update :

--IBL(inbound link) , OBL(outbound link) relevency is getting higher importance.
--application of CSS spam filter.
--blog demotions
--keyword staffed page with Adsense navigation
--promotional campagin for Niche Directory.

I don't think that google has deviated from it's historical intension of fighting spam related issues in it's jagger update so be cool let the saga over and do the requisite honest optimisation for your client sites, they will be in the SERP once again.
