Its weekend again , time to relax (and think ).
I leave some ideas for future implementations,
Hedir allowing site submitters to edit their site at any point of time. (this will keep the listing up to date). Internet doesn't value old and dead information.
Allowing site submitters to add keywords. This will help in tagging.

I feel that it is a need to make changes to submission listing. But again, does the new description need to go back through the review queue again? We should be wary of spammy description after approval when the submitter is allowed to change the listing.
But again, I believe most submittors that manage to get thru the first review and be listed are self-respecting people.

I am not too sure about the use of tagging. Unless hedir is allowing user to search for listing via tag words. Adding keywords I am pretty apprehensive. The task of handling keyword spam in reviewing is something I do not look forward to.

This is something I feel should be in the pipeline. It generate some hype within the forum and keep things alive. I am for it. And given that site of the month sites could be placing a HEDIRSOTM (site of the month) badge on their website, it provides a link back to hedir. Muahahah, evil grin. Sorry, got carried away.

Why cant hedir create the top 10 colleges in the US list ?
After all its a directory which should use the participatoty nature of the internet to come out with the best universities.
We should allow people to suggest categories and sub categories. And norah we desperately need the tag search you have been talking about and the maps.

A prediction for Year 2009
This is the year 2009 and the slashdot effect has been replaced by the hedirstorm. Hedirstrom comes once a month when the site is made the site of the month on hedir. The site usually has to upgrade its server and uses 10 times the b/w.

I have a better Idea here(IMHO), why can't we choose a category like say US colleges and try and find the best 10 sites in a month. We will submit debate and choose the best in the market.

Forums will not do. This process is not dynamic. We need to tap into the internet consciousness. Whenever you introduce friction in the process you can top tap into the conciousness.
We need something like google base. Where the system evolves along with the global internet consciousness.

I want the list of best doctors in my locality. Why cant the human edited directory give me that.
Right now there is only one way to look at the data set inside hedir. Why cant i look at the data set on different axis. Why cant i define my starting point to be location. This is possible to achieve using tags.

IMO users should not submit changes without any review from editor. I also fear about the quality of websites added to Hedir. Is that any problem to add some hidden layers in Your source. Do we have a plan to control accepted sites?

Acorus this is very good Idea, lets discuss more about it. Can anyone handle the whole event? I propose a team, "acorus and baggeroli".
Let them decide and take the "Site of the month" idea from here.
