Kinda cool to see my name up in lights like that down the right side of the page. Wasn't expecting it!

I "re-stumbled" upon the site last night (the first time I found it, it was down) and I like the concept. I've had the idea for something like this for a while as an alternative to DMOZ, but I was glad to see someone else had already done the grunt work.

Hee ADAM, since you're a new member could you please tell me if the whole HEDIR concept was clear to you during (or after) registration? I mean: did you understand the reviewing system, the fact that you have to review at least 10 sites for possible inclusion, how to review sites, where to review sites etc.?

I ask this cause we have trouble getting people to review sites.

Seemed straightforward to me. Mind you, I actually took the time to read the site and figure out what it was all about.

I also saw that post (I think it was a post, I forget now) that said there were like 1000 sites that needed to be reviewed. Someone has to start it off, right?

Also, one of the reasons I like the concept is precisely what you just stated: you have trouble getting people to review the sites. I picked up on that fairly quickly. What this means to me in the future is that, as the site grows, more and more of the non-contributors will end up at the bottom of the pile, which in my opinion is where they belong.

However, I think I see why some people might get confused: the "About Us" link is down at the bottom of the page. Maybe if you put it in the top menu somewhere under "How Hedir Works" or something like that, people would see it. Or hyperlink that graphic on the opening page with the words "Click here for more information..." Something that makes things abundantly clear...smack 'em in the face with it, knowhatI'msayin'?

Semi-newcomer question here: would we be allowed to link to any review threads we've started in our signature? Something like "If I reviewed your site, please review mine at (link)?"

I didn't find anything about that one way or the other.

Now, let's see...intro...introoooooo...ummmm...

While I do a bit of IT work, it's mostly the web design that I focus on. (Usually about 80/20).

There really isn't all that much to me. I'm a graduate of the Harvard Business School, I travel quite extensively, and I've seen The Exorcist 167 times, and it just keeps gettin' funnier every single time I see it!

(Beetlejuice rocked.)

Seriously...there's not that much to tell. I'm a big baseball fan (go Jays) and I play in a fantasy sim league here (I'm the trash-talkin' Houston Heat GM).

Let's see...what else...well, I basically adopt whatever interests and hobbies my girlfriend has when she can manage to drag me away from the box. Smile

Mostly my interests are design, search engines, and casual interests in philosophy and history. Not too much else intrigues my brain.
