>>Correct me if I'm wrong here, but the category forums are for discussion related to their categories, and not for review of the sites themselves, yes?
Not exactly ! Previously we thought of keeping the category forums just for discussions only. Now, category forums are also used for reviewing sites in respective categories. _________________ Evolution is always better than revolution. My attempt at Blogging!
In that case it's best to stay away from modding a category you've submitted sites to yourself - or categories you plan on submitting sites to. Otherwise, the mod in question run the risk of looking like they're blocking the competition when they slap down spam, yeh? I ain't saing that applies to anyone here, but that's the ODP's problem with letting people in the business have editorial control over their own business category.
This applies to me as well - I got the same invite (Thanks, Anthony!), and while I'd normally volunteer to run anything related to books.. I might end up looking pretty silly if I implement some of my vague ideas in that arena.
So 'scuse the rambling, I'm half trying to advice VCDPlanet, half myself, half thinking of the policies Hedir should have in place for this sort of thing, and half wondering if I should stop talking until I've had more coffee.
That's a lot of halves, so if you get the impression I'm sort of rambling on several unrelated subjects at once, you're right _________________
When we say full control for moderators it does not mean autocratic control. Moderators here do not have the priviledge of preventing competition from entering hedir arena. Everything that a moderator does in hedir is subject to community approval. When you approve a site, you have to tell why, and when you reject one you have to answer why ... so that takes care of the problem of jealous moderators

Let us give this concept ( moderators for category forums) a go. We will tackle problems as they arise.
BTW, did i say hello to you previously, melkor.... no? Ok, so Welcome to the Community, Melkor _________________ Evolution is always better than revolution. My attempt at Blogging!
And yeh, sure, I'll moderate anything you got related to books - Although I still think I should stay out of the category I've submitted my own site to.
Partially since it's the only one there at the moment
(I got this idea floating around in the back of my head for a site called "Science fiction books I like" but it's been there for a year or two, so it doesn't seem like I'll get around to it soon...) _________________
I just received an invitation as well. I suppose shopping/sports would fit me best since it is related to my site but I'd be open to fill in any spot that needs it. _________________ REVIEW 10 SITES YOURSELF!

I'd be happy to participate - Home & Gardening, Consumer Electronics and Furniture are probably best for me, but I could also do other categories.
Question: as a moderator, what is the expectation for how often you visit the site and "moderate"? I could most likely get to Hedir every day at least once, but travel a bit, so there are times I wouldn't be available. It would be helpful to know the expectations so any potential moderator can weigh their availble time against the role they are playing on this site.
Hi Jack,
I stick to the Hedir Forum atleast for 1-2 hrs. everyday. Apart from moderating I do some other hedir related tasks too. I don't have a fair idea how long it will take for one to moderate their forum coz I already mentioned that I execute some other task for Hedir. But I feel it depends on the quantity and moderating grasp of a person. It seems you are quite experienced with the forum you are asking about. So, according to me it won't take much time to finish up your day-to-day task. _________________ "Every good thing takes time to happen"
