How is it going for you with your adsense ads in hedir? Are you getting some revenue? Send us suggestions so that we can work on improving CTs for all accounts.
That's from March 1 to April 4, 2006. 24 cents from 3 clickthroughs. Not much AdSense revenue at all to speak of.
Mind you, that's not necessarily a bad thing in my case, since the low CTR HEDir generates balances out the somewhat high AdSense CTR searchenginefriendlylayouts.com has.
I think there are a few things that lead to this:
1) Too many of the same links on the individual forum pages. In particular, the Latest Discussions threads.
They're not actually latest discussions, but they do contribute words that may be throwing off the AdSense program, and we get a lot of the same ads (for example, that Ait Ben Haddou Morocco ad or whatever it's called).
2) The AdSense ads themselves don't really stand out in their location. They're too plain and blend in to the point where they're almost indistinguishable. Maybe use a different unit (e.g. the 468x60 units on the top and bottom.)
3) Even if I did see a relevant AdSense ad to click on (which to date, I haven't), I'd be reluctant to click on it just because, if it were my publisher ID, I might be turning on a click fraud flag with Big G.
4) There aren't any ads on the main. As I pointed out in my Two Ideas thread, depending on how many paid submissions you guys get it may be more worth it to run AdSense in the dir pages themselves rather than sponsor ads. But that's your call.
5) It's a forum. AdSense CTRs are naturally going to be lower because of that...people are too busy posting and responding.
For those wondering why I said the word "AdSense" so much, it's to try and see what results we'll get from the ads. So I'm conducting a live experiment as much as answering a thread question. _________________ HEDir's Prince of Cool
Hmm...okay...I just said AdSense like 8 times. And I know for a fact that there are AdSense keyword bidders. And all I saw was one of the same ads, one for Budget Web Hosting. _________________ HEDir's Prince of Cool
That kinda thing is always a compromise between quality and potential - one of the things that might be worth considering is putting a link unit from G' into the directory pages.
It won't help the posters here, but it could potentially help Hedir stay online- and the link units aren't very in-your-face.
(My total adsense earnings are about ..umm, lesse - 50 cents. So don't listen to me - I know nothing, I'm from Barcelona...) _________________
