Welcome to the first annual CSS naked day which will be happening April 5th, 2006. The idea behind this event is to promote Web Standards. Plain and simple. This includes proper use of (x)html, semantic markup, a good hierarchy structure, and; well, a fun play on words. I mean, who doesn't want to get naked?.
Imagine that all submissions are naked. We can catch all the spammy CSS, hidden texts and colour links all at one glance. _________________ Cheers!

Adam, I feel that the concept here is to create awareness about the usage of technology. CSS is pretty and elegant, and it can be used to mask up sites that have lack of content.
Likewise, CSS can be abused. End of the day, it is always good to revisit the fundatmentals. In addition, I feel that when webmasters/site owners/ visitors see a naked site without CSS, he or she can experience for themselves how people with disbilities access the site.
You can have your point of view. For me, the awareness that this "unofficial day" can potential create could help the general standard of Xhtml in the long run. _________________ Cheers!

Agreed to a certain extent, but to strip it out of the code is painfully unnecessary.
This is one of the few times I'll plug Firefox, but CSS can be disabled in it to see exactly how users with disabilities would visit a website. Why remove it from a website entirely?
Also, it doesn't establish anything as far as the proposition that a site is coded "semantically" (I hate the usage of that word by the way). It just establishes that sites look different without it. The code establishes that, not the appearance of the site.
That's my problem with the concept...it doesn't do what it's intended to do. If I'm someone who is unfamiliar with CSS and I see a "CSS naked" site, I may get turned off the concept because browsers with CSS disabled will see the site like this. It won't do much, if anything, to help the web standards cause. _________________ HEDir's Prince of Cool
I do agree with that post. Back to my first post that starts this thread:

I had limited my audience to the geeky few who programmed and coded their own websites. I feel that it is nothing wrong to have a CSS off day for maybe a personal blog (technical based of course) and maybe a CSS/html discussion portal or something along that line. For the fun of it or to show that your site still presents itself sensibly without CSS.
Doing a CSS naked day on business or cash generating site is plain silly and does not make business sense. It might just turn away your potential clients
It is like those april fool pranks that some influential sites play last week. They can afford to do such panks because it makes sense to do such actions without affecting their user base. Also it helps if your user base are understanding. _________________ Cheers!
