How many of us are using Google sitemaps?

I deleted mine, it's a pain to update, and Google has all of my pages indexed anyways. I do have a regular site map on my main site which I think helps speed up indexing. I remain unconvinced that Google Sitemaps do anything for most sites. Good content and navigation is the best way to get indexed IMO.

… But I think visitors do have a tendency to check site map page to get a clear idea about the whole site structure or to get a bird view of the whole site at a glance. Am I right?

I have Google sitemaps. For me it's a great free service.

We've got google sitemap.Mainly in the vain hope that googlebot will actually index us properly. We have it on a CRON so its really simple to update daily just click a bookmark

My site's ... umm, roughly 3,000 pages plus various layout options like print-ready, html-formattet, rss feeds, and so on - all from the same article.

If I didn't use google sitemaps and indicated that the duplicates aren't what I want indexed, I run the risk of Google doing what Yahoo's done - indexed the "printer ready" versions in favour of the in-site version. I thought the "noindex" tag on the printer version would take care of that, but apparently not...

Simply meant for quicker indexing of your site.... and allow you to see what's going wrong if anything does happen with some of the pages in your site..... it's a little extra gadget for a site Smile

I don't think it has any real effect on your site at all, but the statistics are neat to look at. It looks like they are adding features so why not be involved already for when it really can do some things.
