Is a Captcha in the pipeline to combat spam here in Hedir? Comment spams are mostly robot based from what I gather from redhex.hedir.

Why not simply turn off guest postings all together( think that is a fair request from the mods) until the anti spam system is in place.... spam is here to stay, just make it harder for them Smile

Seriously, here's what I think would help:

1) Use whatever the PHP equivalent to Split () in ASP and split the submissions/posts up by words. (I think Regular Expressions could be used here too, although I'm not all that familiar with them so I can't really comment).

Have each word counted in terms of repetition and percentage. If a word is there 15% or more of the time, that's usually a spammer.

2) Same as #1, but with sentences. It's easy to spot a repeated phrase. They always do this. They always do this. They always do this. They always do this. You get the idea.

3) Block certain types of sites upfront based on spam words.

IF YOU ARE OFFENDED, DO NOT READ THE LIST OF WORDS I'M SUPPLYING BELOW. You were warned.

Viagra, Cialis, Phentermine, Levitra, Penis, Pussy, Cock, Cunt, XXX, teen, fisting ...

I've seen these words and more at least once or twice in submissions.

3) Close the medical section for the time being. I don't think I've seen a legit site in there yet myself.

I can't think of anything else. I'm tired.

yeah I seen that baggs. Each post was about 2 minutes apart and different ips for each.
Looked like someone using ghosted ips and a script of some sort to autosubmit those.
Very annoying to say the least.
