Looking for some feedback from others...

I think the 3 sticky threads at the top of the Submission forum need to be cleaned up. Any ongoing discussion about submission standards/ideas should probably take place in this forum instead.

The "submission standards" thread is 3 pages, which might confuse new posters. Everything they need to know is in the first post of that thread. I think a new single-post, locked, sticky thread clearly stating the criteria should replace it. The post should clearly state:

- the standards as lakhya originally laid them out

- submissions by guests will be locked immediately

- submissions by registered guests that do not meet the standards will be locked if not fixed within 24 hours

- that submitters MUST contribute to the forum by reviewing other posts in order to have their submissions approved

- contributors should review other submissions starting with the OLDEST posts in the forum, not the newest

I think we should also put a sticky on the forum notifying people that there is currently an issue navigating to the later pages which is being worked on (I believe).

The rest of the forum needs a major cleanup as well, but I suggest that wait to see if we can get the Approved/Rejected sub-forums set up first.

Thoughts?

I agree with most of everything you said here winterfrost.geo, with the exception of the 24 hr rule. I am extremely busy with multiple websites, and other on the go jobs that I can not possibly be here 2 days in a row. This is just my opinion, it should be extended to 48 hrs. I'm not a mod here or anything, but that's my 2¢

I understand what you're saying. I guess that I feel that users should be able to follow the submission guidelines if they are clearly posted(and they do need cleaning up a bit, as I indicated), so I don't see any reason to have a longer correction deadline is essential.

I remember seeing a "template" post that I think acorus posted somewhere. That should also be included in the submission guidelines, just to make sure everyone starts from the same base.

Disagreement is welcome... that's why this is open for discussion! Smile

Now we need the power to do it Smile

It can be 48 hour delay as Mad Celt suggested.

Well, I've moved most of the sticky threads to the Feedback forum. I can't seem to split the extra posts from the Submission Procedure thread, though... hopefully an admin can clean that up later.

I'll add a few of the newer developments to the Submission Procedure to hopefully clear up some confusion which we are still encountering.

I've updated the Submission Procedure to include a few of the things which we have discussed recently: guest submissions will be immediately rejected, registered users have 48 hours to fix incorrect submissions. I also tried to clarify what will and will not be accepted, and explained the community review model a little more clearly, as I don't think some people get the point of "community" review.

Please let me know if you have any comments or suggestions! Smile

That is helpful winterfrost.geo, thank you for the help.

We will have to revamp the whole policy and word it in a simpler way.

I was going to re-write it, but there are so many links to that thread that I thought it was better to follow lakhya's original post as a template.

If you can split the comments off the end of that post, I think it would be helpful. I deleted all of the bad submissions from that thread, but I'm unable to split it... I keep getting PHP or 404 errors.
