Hi everybody,

Our member redhex asked a good question here. Smile

I have my own reasons for the cube as Hedir brand image. I think this is the best time to share our view. So why not put our thoughts here.

So the question is Is the cube represents Hedir properly?

I call all the members of Hedir to share their opinion. Also I have started a poll on this. I will share my thoughts here sometimes later. I like have ours idea first. Wink

regards,
Josh

It depends from person to person. How we want to read. If redhex say its a puzzle, let me put this in a more prominent way.

In puzzle you wont find all the same color together, we have to solve it to make like that. And if we look at the cube it looks to me a solved puzzle (Means all your things gets solved at this place.)

There can be many such reasons as why this cube is perfect for hedir.

If reqd I can put forward many such examples.......... Cool

Thanks

My understanding says yes.

Explanation: Hedir is a Human Edited directory as they have their reviewers, moderators and the editors to control the site with the help of Human Intellect only. And the cube is too only and can only be edited and solved by the human hands only. So the resemblance is quite likely.
Hedir community is having a good no. of reviewer and moderators now. And they are doing a good job throughout.
Hats off to them Smile

Well it does have the same colors as the theme of the site.

As a personality a cube means "organized"
As in our organized effort to make a great directory of sites for Hedir.

With the right combination of people working within our Hedir cube we can make the perfect organized directory.

Michelle: You were asking what puzzle game it looked like..
It looks like a Rubik's Cube. I had one when I was a kid.
I was able to solve it in 2 minutes and 14 seconds.
That was actually slow compared to the people on TV doing competitions with it.

I think the cube is just a clip art.

DUH! Ha, just a joke. Honestly I do not feel anything for the cube. It is just a shape there and the brand image of the cube is not used elsewhere. The color themeing is all over the place and that I like.

Overall from the logo I just like the HEDIR font. Can anyone tell me which fonttype is that?

I was expecting some story on how the cube come about...

redhex: I tried loooking up the font type for the Hedir logo once and couldn't find one.
It's like a mix of two different kinds it seemed.

The closest match I could come up with was URW Synchro No. 1 (D)

The cube never tickled me either. My association: when a (complex) puzzle is solved, the fun is over.

Some interesting opinions on the meaning of a "solved puzzle." Personally, I never looked at the Hedir logo that way. In fact, I didn't associate any meaning to it at all. I realize it's like a Rubik's Cube, but I always just looked at it as a simple geometric shape with no particular meaning.

Of course, in terms of branding I am of the opinion that your logo should be as clear in black and white as it is in color. That clearly isn't the case with the cube.

Same thoughts for me as winterfrost. I never really considered the cube having a meaning.

Personally, I don't think the cube suggests 'problem solving'. Used on a programmers site, php, css etc. it may suggest 'if you have a problem, it can be solved here' type of thing, but most people start off at HEDir to get their site listed. The cube, to me, doesn't suggest the human involvement with the site, it's just an inanimate object.

Yeah Webhulk, you are absolutely correct. It depends on person to person. You can get very good example right here.

According to me, it's a completely organized Rubik cube. And I think Hedir people are aiming to reach that level, where everything will be placed in organized way, in terms of Web Directory with the help of their experienced community at Hedir Forum.

Hi,

When I look at the Hedir logo, the cube it simply reminds me of Rubik's Cube. In my childhood it was an interesting puzzle to solve. The cube of Hedir is in a solved state. The solved state can be defined in lots of ways. For us this is a state of perfect ness and properly ordered.

Keeping Hedir in mind our solved state can be defined as arrangement of information available in web in a properly categorized manned. This is basically our goal. Arranging information is also a big puzzle. So the cube reminds me our goal, that perfect ness.

The only mismatch I can think of is for Rubik's Cube there are algorithms to reach the solve state. But to meet the ultimate goal of Hedir there is no such algorithms or defined process. We need work hard to find out the ways which can take us near to that perfect ness. Smile

Regards,
Josh
