My friend,

Perhaps you know by this time, that I am not a planet anymore Sad

. Yes you are right, I am the object far away from the Sun, used to be known as the 9th planet of the solar family. I have lost my position yesterday, though I don't know how a group of people got the right to decide my fate, anyways, I don't want to break up a fire, I am writing to you just for venting.

I have never complained for all the injustice that I have been awarded so far, sunlight and heat rarely reach to my surface. My body is covered with ice. But I never argued. I have only one ‘moon' where some other planets have as more as 17 and I never argued. But today I cannot keep quiet anymore. I have been demoted to a ‘dwarf planet' state where I have to sit with Charon? What a humiliation?

Often asteroids and comets come into my orbit and I do not have the muscle to throw them away. They hit my body and cause severe scars. Instead of looking for some medication, people on earth snatched my Crown and pushed me down to the second row in my society. What more life has for me in the sleeve?

You might be wondering why I am writing this to you. Don't you think we have many similarities to share apart from our names? Everything you do – talk, walk, eat, sleep, jump, are controlled and directed by someone else. Hence I think you are my only friend in this universe. Though your creator is kind enough to give you good neighbors, but my bad luck has made me alone and left me in a world of dwarfs.

Shhhh….let me tell you a secret, the other dwarfs in the solar family are pretty happy to get me in their team, we are 3 now and waiting for 4 more. Once we are 7 in number we will set out for Snow White. There is light at the end of the tunnel.

LOL, I love this. This is the silliest thing I have read for awhile.

What about poor Mercury?
Is it a liquid which was used in many thermostats or a planet?

What about the poor Moon?
Is it something someone does when dropping their pants and pointing their butt at someone or our nearest neigbor in the solar system?

What about poor Mars?
Is it still known as the candy bar "Mars Bars" or our next destination for the human race to go to when we use up our earths resources?

Does Jupiter really make boys more stupider?
Do I really need to tell the story of Uranus(your anus)?

The list goes on for the poor planets who have been the butt of so many jokes and replaced with material objects.

You've been hanging around the big 8 for millennia thinking you're one of us. Well, it now seems you've been rumbled, and rightly so. You can't even orbit on the same plane as the rest of us so why should we have you in our gang?

Hi Pluto,

Don't you worry! It's just that you have a new family and lots of friends around you. As astrologers say that you're a dwarf planet, but it doesn't really matter.

I envy you Pluto! After all, you were among 9 members and now it's hundreds of them – all in one family.

I have my full sympathies for you.But as they say "Truth and oil always come to the surface" .So before u dive into the lake of sorrows mourning your demotion .I would like you to get some basics right.

Though it is difficult to set some exact scientific definition for planet, but as a rule of thumb, A planet:

must directly orbit a star or an object that has nuclear fusion;
must be small enough that it has not undergone internal nuclear fusion (ie, it is not a star or starlike object); and
must be large enough that its self-gravity gives it the general shape of a sphere.

In other words, a planet has to dominate the neighborhood around its orbit.

Poor Pluto, you have been the center of many controversies since your were first spotted on February 18,1930.

Initially astronomers thought you were of the same size as Earth, but later found you are smaller than Earth's moon.
With your elongated orbit and funky orbital plane, you act more like other Kuiper Belt objects than traditional planets.
The phrase "dominate the neighborhood" refers to an orbiting body (a planet or protoplanet) "sweeping out" its orbital region over time, by gravitationally interacting with smaller bodies nearby.But sadly you have failed to clear the neighborhood of your orbit.

But then one is left to wonder why at all this scandelised celestial body was given a space in the solar system?

I hope International Astronomical Union (IAU) have a heart and dicide once and for all where to keep you.

Don't raise your arms in despair !
What if you don't belong to the m8 anymore...believe me the most powerful bodies around you bear the immortal pains....just like you were hit by asteroids n commets.

Believe me...you were never really beloved to the father Sun....or else why would he keep his favorite son so far away from him...!

Instead of sobbing within...be a member of the secluded but larger family of us heavenly bodies...now that I'm a sattelite to father Jupiter...
