If any users come across the following site in their searches, then please beware: www.wmusic[dot]co.uk (replace the dot with .)
The site is 'selling' goods at vastly reduced prices - musical keyboards - digital cameras etc.
They also display a false address & tel. no.
I've been in touch with the Fraud Squad here in the UK and they have called me back to say they have contacted the hosting company to get the site 'pulled'.
As of writing, the site is still 'live' so it's worth taking a look to see how easy it is for a scammer to set up a legit-looking site and take your money. _________________ Please help us to improve HEDir by reviewing some sites.
Just over 2 hours later and the site has now been 'pulled'.
Thanks to the swift action of the Metropolitan Police and the hosting company the scammers will now have to look elsewhere for someone to host their site. _________________ Please help us to improve HEDir by reviewing some sites.
That's awesome the way not only the Fraud Squad but the hosting company took such quick action. What tipped you off that they were a scam site if they initially looked legit?

I've been trying to find a good deal online for a particular keyboard (piano) and found very little difference cost-wise between most sites. However, this spoof site which had just appeared in Google's index, were selling the same model for nearly half-price which is just too good to be true. I checked out a digital camera price against other sites and that too was half price. If they hadn't been so inexpensive, they might have been around for a little longer.

I Googled 'reporting spoof sites uk' and had the relevant info pretty quickly. I hadn't thought of the police, I was looking for some professional organisation that handled this sort of thing and stumbled onto the police site. They were excellent. I think there is no such way to stop these sites appearing in the SE indexing unless human intervention is added. This is the exact place where Hedir like to be to help the consumers. Hedir community can provide their expartised opinion regarding the services provided by a site. IMO consumers and visitors and others who like to avail those services can have the best suggestions from Hedir as those are provided by the community. Possibility of biased opinion will be lesser as they are comming from community.
I can only think of Hedir to achive that postion, nothing else.
