Hi,

Latest rumor on e-market is GPhone which seems to be coming true very soon. An well known venture capitalists Simeon Simeonov from Polaris Venture Partners recently announced in his blog HighContrast that Google is working on Google Phone. Simeon also informed that it will like BlackBerry-like device and available on multiple carriers. It will have features like C++ core w/ OS bootstrap, Optimized Java running on the C++ core, Vector-based presentation, VoIP etc. Greg Linden said in his blog that it will possible use VoIP that works over WiFi coverage(may be nation wide).

Google hired system engineer Andy Rubin to design the OS for the phone. Interestingly Andy was the founder of Danger, a handheld device maker and Android, a mobile software maker. Those two companies were sold to Google in 2005. In 2005 Google bought Skia founded by founded by Mike Reed, a device software expert. Google is using vector graphics engine designed by Skia for their phone. Two more facts confirm the rumor to be true. Google and Samsung announced a partnership in January. Google is looking for Collaboration with Orange and the processes are going on to finalise the deal.

The Possible the market strategy for the phone will be like Google will market the phone online and carriers will fulfill. Now how fast google will launch the strong challenger of iPhone?. Rumor says possible this year or first quarter of 2008.

Now last but not the least the image of switch (codename of GPhone) says it's a button-less touchscreen device which was published on engadget.

I am really looking for it. Laughing

regards,
Josh

If this thing is real, I might be on that phone soon after it comes out.

One problem I'd have with it is the scratchability that screen would probably have. I wonder if they could do an ipod-like cover for it.

Another problem would be the cost of internet access on this phone. Internet access on phones for some reason is unnecessarily high.
