I am an arrogant Newb in a following areas:
WebDesign
Site Promotion
HTML
PHP
JAVA
Addscence
AddWords
As i said B4 i`m no just a "Newb" but The "Arrogant Newb"
So, i dared to submit my EVE-Online Fansite for your review, as well as to a lot of others directories & Search Engines.
Hope you`d like it, if not... well.... I`am not a newb in receiving a rejections (Nobody is at my age , while overall score is in my favor ). _________________ Imagination is the one weapon in the war against reality

I take it as reviews could not be done through this center.

Welcome to board. Certainly Hedir members would be of great help in making the sites user friendly. They are just like us but have good knowledge in certain areas. And that makes Hedir a different web directory from any other web directories. So, don't worry, rejection does not matter here. Even after rejection, you have 100% chance of approval. You just repair on those parts for which it is rejected. Enjoy your stay.

I do not work a lot with both, but got a promotional 20$ from my hosting to try Addwords.
How it works:
1. You register addwords account with Google (better if you have an account with Gmail allready - it makes life easier)
2. They`ll need your Credit Card & will charge 5$ immediately - for registration (If you do not have any promotional credit)
3. You create an short promotional add for your site, choose keywords for this, and let it run.
4. It will then appear in a Google search results & on sites which are using Google AddScence program. (For example check my site (click my signature) - on the bottom you`ll see google ads, this is a place for Addwords to appear.
After initial registration & creating your adds, you`ll pay at the end of month, actually you pay not for a display of your add, but for clicks on it. Price of a click may be fm 0.05-0.20 or more usd. You can limit spending, clicks & a lot of other thing, there is a lot of settings there.
Summary:
It is a targeted & not to expensive advertising of your site.
Now let us get to AdScence,
This is a way to get some cash from your site.
1. You register with an Adscence at google.
2. Tuneup setting
3. Get a code & paste it in an area of your site.
Adds related to your site will appear in this block, and you`ll get paid for clicks on this adds. I would say it is other side of an Addwords, cause adds appearing in this block come from addwords users at most. There are a lot of setting, for example you can exclude some sites from displaying adds at your site. (You rivals for example).
I suspect this can work only for popular sites, cause you need somebody to click on it, and you can not do it yourself.
And of course Google have kind of referall program. If somebody will sign up for adwords using your link, you`ll get some profit. I do not use this, but you can find it at google.
if you gonna try some of this, strt from creating an Gmail account, it is free & it gives you 2,5 GB of mail space.

In addition, Google have some tools for Webmasters (you can submit sitemap, see if Google indexed your site and so on..) and most of them require gmail account.

We supposed to help each other, are not we ? I`am always happy to share the knowledge . , if not bound by some agreement or terms (FairPlay let me sleep better , so i`am trying to do things this way).
