A couple of times recently I've been checking website statistics and found some odd looking links from blogs. When I followed them I couldn't find the links anywhere. So I wondered if this is some new kind of spamming, ie find new / low traffic websites, create temporary links to them, follow the links so they appear in web stats (presumably automated), and get curious people coming back to your site. I can't think of any other reason why those blogs would have links to those sites. (In fact I can't explain those blogs any other way at all, they are very odd).
Has anyone else found this lately? Or has it been going on for ages? Just curious.
