I don't exactly know what you mean by SEO extension but from a web developer's POV I use the web developer extension: http://chrispederick.com/work/web-developer/

Thanks I've already got that one. I've just downloaded 3 more extensions to test: KGen, which seems to find keywords in a page in various ways, SEOpen which seems able to check things like keywords, dmoz entries, alexa traffic, links, robots.txt and server headers from the right click menu, and Niche watch which I haven't figured out yet. I think it will be interesting to see more of how this works. Some of the tools seem a lot more comprehensive eg they can find links from educational institutions or government websites, but I avoided some of them because it sounded like they ran automatically or continuously and could possibly query other sites like search engines so often they might block access from your IP for over using their services.

I prefer to not install all kinds of extensions, but I currently use the SearchStatus extension for SEO purposes. It shows your Google pagerank, your Alexa pagerank and Compete.com rank (not sure what that one is yet). It offers a bunch of other tools for analyzing keywords too. I haven't quite figured it all out yet, but it looks fairly helpful.

Hope this helps a bit!
