Hi

There is a website which is about 4 yrs. old and going good in terms of traffic as well as SE. But the website admin turned his mind into making the domain name easy and short, so that user can remember easily. Now the point is how he can proceed further without affecting his website traffic and SE. Is there any convenient way to do it? Please shed some thought on it.

The best way to do this is to use a 301 redirect from the old domain name to the new one. Details can be found here:

Both the old and new domain will have to continue to exist for this to work but it will keep the rankings intact.

Firstly you need to do use a 301 redirect from the old domain name to the new one. with this your old traffic would not suffer and your business too.
