Hi,

Somewhere I was reading that submitting images in online photo sharing communities helps to fetch traffic to the websites. So, I am in dilemma whether this would be an effective way to bring traffic or not.
Anybody experienced this?
Please share.

I have not tried this, but I don't understand how it would be useful unless the web site is something about photography and you are looking for people interested in that subject.

For example, my primary site is about web design & hosting. If I posted a lot of photos in photo sharing sites and included a link to my hosting/design site, I don't see how those visitors would be helpful - how many people who look at photos are also looking for someone to host or design their site? I might get a spike in visitors out of curiosity, but it's unlikely many would be actually interested in my services.

On the other hand, I guess any valid exposure has value. You never know who may decide they need a new web site and just happen to trip over my link.

I consider this as a "shotgun" approach and would not expect much from it. But I don't think it's a bad thing to do, if you already have an interest in taking photos and posting them online.

I think this would be similar to posting to forums and adding a sig link to my site, in the hopes I would get more traffic. I've been posting in a number of forums for about 3 years now, and I can not point to one new client that I got coming from a sig link in a forum.

I'm interested to hear other views of this. Intriguing idea Smile
