Is there any such tool available through which one can understand that the site, he/she is going to exchange link with, is free from adult content and links? Any idea ?
A real shame you've been lumbered with dialup. Will they be rolling out DSL in your area anytime soon? Living in the overcrowded UK it's easy to forget how massive, and remote some of the areas in the US really are. Is a satellite connection available as an option? They offer it here, but it's damn expensive. _________________ Please help us to improve HEDir by reviewing some sites.
You have to drag some coloured boxes into another box first to prove you're not a robot. Then you get a screen where you can type or paste in the URL of the page to check. It also checks some links on the pages you link to but I don't know if it checks all of them. I've used it a few times and it's come up with a few questionable links - some said 'Blog Spam' and another one on a page I linked to had the word 'sexy' in it. So it must be looking for various different types of bad links. I was a bit surprised because my pages had statcounter scripts on them and it was checking links from there too - I hadn't thought I was linking to them but I suppose technically I am. _________________ Devon Business Directory
I tried it and after a few local pages being checked it went to bad-neighborhood.com and started checking their links instead of the site I entered. That was kind of odd. It looked like a good idea though. I hope they get that fixed.
I know this is off the topic. But just for your info. Till few years ago internet connection was very much advanced technology and costly as well in India. But now the condition is recovering. We have now even GPRS services with good speed offering.
strange:
after a few local pages being checked it went to bad-neighborhood.com and started checking their links instead of the site I entered.
I also found it checked a link I had commented out. It is a good idea though.
By the way, does anyone know if search engines check things that are commented out? I thought they wouldn't. _________________ Devon Business Directory
Anything commented is part of the page content. it can also show up in results if the situation is right and the info was needed to finish a description.
The "right situation" will most likely be that it was the first instance of the searched for word that was found in the page content when Google tries to find relevant sites.
in other words... Anything commented is just as much part of the page to a search engine as anything you are able to visibly see.
