Hedir Review : VPN software

Hi All,

I was wondering if anyone can suggest a good reliable secure VPN software at decent reasonable price for Windows? It would be a plus if it is setup friendly as well as user friendly.

It would be nice if they let us download them for testing before we paid for the software to see if it works like we need them to do so.

I think there is a lot of free and opensource programs like antivirus firewalls browsers.....

Just a quick note from a security guy.
If its free and open source, every hacker and their dog will have full access to the code your 'secure' VPN is written in. You dont have to be really good if you know how it works.

You have to bear i mind the hacker balance (as I call it)
Xval = the value ofhe stuff inside
Xtime= the time it will take me to get in

if (Xval) > (Xtime) then
let me in there
else
forget it
end if

Not trying to discourage any opensource VPN solution, however it all depeds on the info inside your VPN, it you are super nervous buy hardware, (i use watchguard.com for business) or gotomypc.com (citrix) for personal.

We've been using many open source tools for several years on one system, and all Windows "payme" tools on another system.

Guess which system has been hacked twice and has been brought to its knees with 3 viruses over the last 4 years? Yep, the Windows one... The Linux workstation with all-opensource has been tremendously stable during that time.

So while your logic is sound, in practice I have not seen it work that way. Maybe others are luckier than I with Windows ...
