A agree with Edmond. I use Firefox 2.0 for my day to day browsing. However, in addition to FF and Opera, I also test my site in both IE 6 and IE 7 since a majority of people still will be using one of the two versions of IE.

I was forced to upgrade to Firefox 2.0
because my webhosters new webmail didn't work with my way outdated Firefox then.

I was told to avoid FF 2.0 saying it had bad reviews but I am finding it pretty ok - in fact marginally better than my previous FF

Anyone done a side-by-side comparison? If so, how do you think these latest versions stack up?

both pretty similiar, although different mentalities behind their design.
FF is a developers helper, the code view for me is far better than the IE7 one (notepad).
IE7 was written for general users, no fancy developer extras to help us see why stuff doesn't work... just notepad

My favourite tool in IE7 is the CTRL+Q (quick tabs) where you can gallery all of the tabs you have open and select one, the tabbed workspace is a great idea, may spaces one window (albeit a bigger memory footprint for IE7 in windows XP, vista handles it fine - see my blog http://chillfire.blogspot.com/2006/11/internet-explorer-memory-problem s.html

I use both regularily as firefox is the closest I can get to a Mac browser as I dont own one, all sites get tested in IE6/IE7,FF1.5/2.0

Anyone maxed out the number of tabs open at one time?

I love firefox. The extremely minor thing I didn't like about 2.0 was the way the search feature when you begin typing. In FF 1.5, you begin typing, and you have the ability to click the arrows to find the next occurence, etc. But in this one, you don't unless you type the word and click ctrl-F. (I'm that lazy.)

I prefer firefox for the user interface and extensions, but I have noticed version 2 seems to crash more than earlier versions. But then when you reopen it there's an option to get back all your previous tabs. The internet explorer upgrade is annoying as you need either 2 computers or something like vmware to test in both IE 6 and 7 - if anyone has an easy method for this I'd like to hear it! Is anyone still testing in IE 5 / 5.5 or are you not testing these any more?

I see everybody like FF, but really only 20% of visitors of my site use it. Others prefer IE. Only 1-2% use Netscape and Opera.

That's more a result of IE coming preinstalled on all computers. Also a biggie is firefox is young, so 1. People have to SWITCH to firefox, 2. Grandma has no way of hearing about it, 3. people like what works... "what ain't broke".

I have only one complaint about Firefox 2.0. I don't like the tabs having an X on them to close them. If I get in a hurry to hit a tab then I take the risk of closing it. I found no option to take the X off of the tabs.
Very irritating

EDIT

I found how to take the Close button off of all the tabs.
You can read it here if you are interested http://it-help.bathspa.ac.uk/firefox/ff_tabs.html

I use Firefox. I tried IE7 but didn't like it. I love how I can customize FF with add-ins and skins. It makes the browsing experience all so much more personal instead of how MS thinks it should be for you.
