There are end numbers of web directories available on the web. Some are easy to submit but some may take longer and steps are irritating. Which step you find the most irritating while submitting in a web directory?
For some of them, I dislike having to register as a member. I am sure they have their reasons for doing this, but sometimes it seems like a lot of trouble and they may choose to not list my site anyway. _________________

As an editor in many directories, I like the requirement for people to register as a member and are required or encouraged to participate in order to get their free listing in the directory.
- People don't value that which they don't make an effort to obtain. If they don't value it, they don't do a good job preparing their submittal.
- Registering gives the directory an ability to block IPs from people who routinely spam the directory with crap submittals.
- When people are required to register, they are more likely to read the guidelines and create a more compliant submittal than if they are not required to make any effort.
In the different directories I edit in, the most frequent reason sites are rejected is because the submitter didn't read the guidelines or chose to ignore them.

There are some disorganized, mismanaged directories that do not have a clear structure. They have a lot of categories that are disorganized and it's hard to find the right topic. I have found this in directories that allow all registered users to add their own topics - of course everyone makes a new topic just for their own site, so the directory is a mess.
I have not found it to be burdensome to register and submit at the main directories that are well-run. I consider they are doing me a favor by letting me submit my sites for free to a good directory, so I don't mind providing the information they ask for (mostly name, email, user name and password.) _________________ my new company site - AlphaWeb Design & Promotion - for website design, web marketing, web conferences
To become a member well that means to register yourself so that the directory (human edited) can track you for updates or for problems in dire consequences and this will also ensure that no adult sites or illegal sites are being submitted.
I don't like not being informed if my link was accepted or not. I have to keep going back to the site over and over to see if it is listed when a simple email would let me know one way or the other _________________ Do you recommend oakgroveoutfitters.com?
Hallmike - that's a point, especially if they've asked for your email address, it seems polite to use it to keep you informed.
The thing that annoys me is surprises at the last minute, eg I was trying to submit a site yesterday and the directory said it allowed normal links as well as reciprocal links but the submittal form wouldn't validate without a reciprocal link address. _________________ Devon Business Directory
The thing I dislike most is that some directories don't notify if your site is approved or declined. I also heard that directories can delete your existing links even _________________ roksolana-dating.com roksolana.com.ua aMariner.net
I agree, it would be nice to know - also it would stop you submitting it twice by accident (depends how organised you are I suppose!) _________________ Devon Business Directory
I do not like then they want back link to be placed at main page, it is impossible; if you do it, then your main page will look like directory listing _________________ Imagination is the one weapon in the war against reality
